Basically Minecraft is a Sandbox game that means the player can roam freely through a virtual world and is given complete freedom on choosing objectives. Minecraft for PC was created by Markus Notch, a Swedish programmer and was later developed and published by Mojang. It was publically released for PC in May 2009 as an alpha version and after gradual updates; it was released as full version in November 2011.

The best thing about Minecraft for PC is that its developers have developed this game namely for all available platforms. Whether it is Windows, MAC, Linux, iOS, Android; Minecraft is available for all. You name the platform and its developers have already developed this addictive game for it. And not just this, Minecraft is even available for gaming consoles like Xbox 360, Xbox one, PS3, PS4 and now it will be available for PS Vita also.

The creative aspect of Minecraft allows players to build constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D generated world. Other objectives include gathering resources, exploration crafting and combat also. Minecraft for PC has received 5 awards during 2011 Game Developers Conference under various categories.

 Gameplay of Minecraft for PC

Minecraft is an open world game in which player has basically no specific mission to accomplish giving the player a large amount of freedom in choosing how to play the game. By default the game is first person, but players have the option to play in third person mode too. The world represented in game is mainly composed of rough 3D objects like cubes that are arranged in a fixed grid pattern and represents different materials like stone dirt, tree trunks water etc.

Although the game offers full freedom to the player to roam freely in game but the objects and items can only be placed at fixed locations relative to the grid. The player has full freedom to walk through different terrains like mountains, plains, forests and even water bodies. Minecraft also offers some non-playing characters which are known as mobs which include villagers, animals and hostile creatures like spiders,  skeletons etc. It also features two alternate dimensions besides the main world; the Nether which is a hell like dimension and The End which is a barren land in which a boss dragon is there and killing the dragon cues the game’s ending credits.

Modes of Minecraft for PC

The different modes that Minecraft offers are:

Survival Mode:

This is the basic mode in which the player has to gather natural resources like wood stone etc found in the game world. These resources are later used to craft certain items and blocks. This mode offers a health bar which is depleted by attacks from monsters, drowning or even falling into lava. Players also have a hunger bar which must be filled periodically by eating food in game.

Creative Mode:

In this mode players have the access to majority of the resources available in the game. The player can roam freely and does not take damage by mob and is even not affected by hunger. This mode basically focuses on building and creating large projects.

Adventure Mode:

This mode was initially not present and was added in version 1.3. It gives player the experience of user crafted custom maps. It has many restrictions; this is so that players can obtain the required items and experience adventures in the way that the mapmaker intended.
